Yeah, That's Pierced Too!

What is a Prince Albert?

By now, unless you are familiar with piercing you're probably wondering what the hell a Prince Albert is. I've compiled a little information on PA's from my own piercing references and manauls. You can learn a little of the history of a PA. If you are not 18 you may not want to read this because *gasp* I will be discussing the male anatomy, and a picture will accompany. If you don't want to see it, don't look.

1.) This piercing is named for Queen Victoria's consort Prince Albert who is said to have had one. It is also sometimes referrred to as a "dressing ring." Legend has it that the piercing was introduced by fashion revolutionary Beau Brummell and was used to secure the penis against the leg to reduce any "unsightly" bulge in tight pants. It is considered by many men to be the most sensual of th epenis piercings, and is done today purely for pleasure. Rings are the jewelry of choice, though some men prefer a curved barbell.

2.) It is not known whether Prince albert himself actually had this piercing (also called a dressing ring), but it was quite fashuionable for men of the day to have one. Victorian pants were very tight, and it had been said the ring was used to strap the penis tight to the leg to minimize any unsightly bulge.

Nowadays, this piercing is done almost exclusively for erotic enhancement. While this is primarily for the posessor, some men's parners also find it stimulating, but oral for others, it may be uncomfortable, particularly during oral or anal sex. Fortunately this piercing is in a very vascular area and heals so quickly and completely that it  may be removed for short periods as early as three months after piercing.

For some men, the PA becomes a "PE" (pee everywhere). In some cases it inecessitates that the piercee sit down for urination. Generally speaking this doesn't happen unless the piercing is stretched beyond about 8 ga.

Once again, if you are not 18, or you are offended by a partially nude male then don't look ....

O.K. This PA has a 0 gauge, 5/8" captive bead ring. This is not your average PA piercing. It's stretched. But this is a really good example of a PA. *Pic courtesy BME*
